If you're bringing a donation (www.widernet.org/donations), please park in the drive between the Communications Center and the Seamans Engineering Center, which is the entire building to the north and east of us. (See the map above.)
This is a private parking lot for loading and for service vehicles, so you have to be very careful how you park to avoid a ticket. The preferred option is to call ahead or when you get downstairs, so staff person can assist you and you don't have to leave your car, but please read the information below:
Preferred Option
Park in the drive between the two buildings right by the second door on the right, which is a large glass door between two large glass windows. If you have to turn, you've gone too far. Park as close to the Communications Center (the building on the right) as possible. Do NOT shut off your car or leave it unattended! If you do, you may get a ticket! The staff person you called ahead of time will come down with a cart and the donation form that you need to fill out. This person should also help you unload. If he/she doesn't come within 5 minutes, please call again at 319-335-2200. If you aren't sure you're in the right place, the large glass door leads to a "loading room" with a WiderNet sign on an inside wall. Be careful, because you have to step down to get into the room.
Do-It-Yourself Option
The other option is to actually pull into the parking lot. The first space on the left at the top of the alley says "30 Minute Loading Zone". You may have to turn and then back into the parking space. With this option, you should be able to leave your car, come upstairs, make your donation, and return in that amount of time without getting a ticket.
After Hours Option
If you need to come outside of office hours, call ahead to make arrangements. Someone may be able to be there to help or you can arrange to leave the items in the "loading room" with a pre-printed donation form to signify that they're for WiderNet! Do not just leave items here without prior arrangement! Regardless of the sign, this is a public space. WiderNet does NOT control it or check it regularly. (Read in the instructions under Preferred Option for information about identifying the "loading room".)
